Middle School at TPA

Our Middle School (Grades 6–8) supports students through an important stage of growing independence, helping them strengthen academic habits, build confidence in their voice, and take greater ownership of their learning. Students learn in a structured environment where expectations are clear and learning is active, engaging, and purposeful.

Alongside core academic courses, students participate in electives such as Drama, Technology, and other applied learning experiences that expand learning beyond the classroom and allow them to explore interests through creative expression and hands-on work.

At the center of the Middle School experience is our Leadership Design Lab, a three-year program in which students identify real needs within their school and community and design solutions through guided, student-driven projects. Students research issues that matter to them, collaborate in teams, prototype ideas, and present their work to authentic audiences. Projects may include initiatives that improve school life, support community needs, or raise awareness around social or environmental topics. The experience culminates in the 8th Grade Servant Leadership Project, where students take full ownership of a meaningful initiative that reflects their learning, growth, and commitment to making a positive impact.

As students progress through Grades 6–8, they are gradually prepared for increased academic rigor and responsibility, including advanced math pathways introduced in 8th grade to support a strong transition into high school.

Life as a Middle School Dolphin

No two days look exactly the same. A student might move through engaging discussions in core classes, collaborate on problem-solving projects, participate in electives like Drama or Technology, or work in teams during advisory and Leadership Design Lab to explore real challenges and develop solutions. Throughout the week, students take part in athletics, school events, and leadership opportunities that build confidence, responsibility, and teamwork. They also present their ideas, share their thinking, and take on new levels of independence as learners. These experiences help Dolphins grow into more reflective, capable, and prepared students ready for the transition to high school.
