Beyond the School Day
Learning and growth don’t stop when the school day ends. Through our After School Program and Atlético de Palmas, students can explore new interests, build skills, stay active, and connect with friends in a safe and engaging environment. Both the After School Program (ASP) and Atlético de Palmas are open to TPA students, homeschool students, and children from other schools during the after-school hours.

Guidelines
Registration
- Registration must be done through the school webpage.
- Students will be accepted upon payment receipt.
- Open to students not enrolled at The Palmas Academy.
Attendance
- Classes need to be taken consecutively, with no exceptions.
- Official communication will be issued if any class is canceled and will be rescheduled to ensure the amount of classes.
- No make up classes for late enrollment.
- Pick-up is at designated time. No aftercare available after classes finish.
- If necessary, make-up classes due to holidays will be scheduled by the teacher/coach.
Conduct
- Participants must comply with the General Standards of Conduct in the Student Handbook.
- Each program requires a specific dress code that students must adhere to.
Refunds & Credits
- No refunds after the 2nd class.
- Credits will be issued to enroll in other after school programs.

Unleash your child’s inner sculptor! In Clay Creations, young artists will discover the tactile joy of pottery and sculpting using air-dry clay. Through step-by-step guidance and plenty of room for imagination, students will learn fundamental clay techniques like hand-building pinch pots, rolling coils, and smoothing slabs. They will transform raw clay into unique, durable treasures—from decorative bowls and animal figures to custom wall hanging sculptures—and bring them to life with vibrant paints and finishes. This class focuses on developing fine motor skills, spatial reasoning, and artistic confidence in a relaxing, mess-friendly environment where every student takes home creations they can be proud of.

Step into a dynamic lab where curiosity drives the experiment and the journey matters far more than the final result! Curious Catalyst bridges the worlds of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) with the open-ended freedom of Process Art. Instead of following step-by-step instructions to make identical projects, students become active inventors, artists, and scientific thinkers. They will investigate scientific concepts—such as chemical reactions, gravity, kinetic energy, and geometry—by physically building, testing, pouring, sculpting, and splashing. Whether they are formulating custom conductive dough, engineering pendulum painting rigs, or experimenting with hydrophobic watercolors, students will focus on exploration, problem-solving, and sensory discovery. This workshop provides a low-pressure environment where “mistakes” are reframed as valuable scientific discoveries. Students leave each session with boosted confidence, critical thinking skills, and a deeper appreciation for how the physical world works.

The Yarn Lab is a hands-on crochet class where students learn the fundamentals of crochet while exploring their creativity through yarn and fiber arts. Students will learn basic techniques such as holding a crochet hook, creating foundational stitches, following simple patterns, and combining colors and textures. Through guided projects, students will develop patience, focus, fine motor skills, and confidence while creating unique handmade pieces they can be proud of. No previous crochet experience is necessary.

A Pura Seña is an introductory class in Puerto Rican Sign Language designed to help students develop basic communication skills through signs, gestures, and interactive activities. Students will learn everyday vocabulary and expressions while exploring the importance of communication, inclusion, and accessibility. Through games, practice, and hands-on activities, students will build confidence using sign language and develop an appreciation for Puerto Rican Sign Language and the Deaf community.

Create Your Plate is a hands-on cooking program where students build confidence and independence in the kitchen while learning how to prepare simple meals and snacks. Students will practice following recipes, measuring and preparing ingredients, and safely using basic kitchen tools and equipment. Through each cooking experience, students will strengthen practical skills such as planning, problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity while exploring new foods and flavors. Students will also reflect on and share their experiences, discussing what they learned, what they enjoyed, challenges they encountered, and how they might apply their new skills at home.

The Clay Lab is a hands-on art class where students explore their creativity through sculpting and creating with air-dry clay. Each class will introduce students to age-appropriate clay techniques such as rolling, pinching, coiling, shaping, adding texture, joining pieces, and decorating. Students will work on a variety of fun projects throughout the program, including miniature sculptures, trinket dishes, charms, magnets, animals, food-inspired creations, pencil holders, decorative pieces, and seasonal projects. Some projects may take more than one class to complete, allowing time for pieces to dry before painting and decorating. The focus of the class is creativity, self-expression, and having fun while developing fine motor skills, patience, problem-solving, and confidence. Students will be encouraged to personalize their creations and put their own artistic spin on each project. No previous clay or art experience is necessary.
