Giving at The Palmas Academy

Your generosity shapes the future of TPA.

From visionary new programs to scholarships that expand access, every contribution helps us nurture minds, grow leaders, and inspire excellence. Join us—because together, we can achieve more.

As a 501(c)(3) and 1101.01 Hacienda verified nonprofit, The Palmas Academy depends on the generosity of families, friends, and community partners to make our mission possible. Every gift directly supports our students—through scholarships, innovative academic programs, athletics, arts, and campus improvements.

If you are an Act 60 decree holder, your contribution to TPA also qualifies for your Act giving requirements. We are eligible to receive the entirety of your gift: we qualify for both charity of choice and CECFL (Comisión Especial Conjunta de Fondos Legislativos para Impacto Comunitario). This means your gift not only impacts our Dolphins, but may also provide significant tax benefits.

Your generosity ensures that students from all backgrounds can access the life-changing value of a TPA education. Together, we are building future leaders and strengthening our community.

Yes. TPA is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our 501(c)(3) Tax Identification Number is 66-0486893.  We are also a Hacienda 1101.01 verified non-profit, per Puerto Rico law. All gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Every gift directly supports students—through scholarships, financial aid, innovative academic programs, athletics, the arts, and ongoing campus improvements. You can designate your gift to a specific fund, or make it unrestricted to support the school’s greatest needs.

The Impact Fund is TPA’s annual giving program—our most flexible and important source of support. Gifts to the Fund go directly to the areas of greatest need on campus each year, including:

  • Scholarships & Financial Aid – expanding access for talented students.

  • Academic Innovation – new programs, technology, and classroom resources.

  • Faculty Excellence – professional development and support for our teachers.

  • Campus & Student Life – athletics, arts, and improvements to learning spaces.

Unlike restricted gifts, contributions to the Impact Fund allow TPA to respond quickly to emerging opportunities and challenges while keeping tuition as accessible as possible.

Every family, every gift, every year makes a difference.

Yes. Every donor receives a written acknowledgment and receipt for tax purposes. If you give through our online giving portal with a credit card, you typically receive an emailed receipt within minutes.

We are typically eligible to recieve the full $10,000 required by most Act 60 (formerly Act 20/22) decrees.

We are listed on the Comisión Especial Conjunta de Fondos Legislativos Para Impacto Comunitario (CECFL) list (page 22), and therefore eligible for the portion of your gift that must be used to combat child poverty in Puerto Rico.  We are also eligible to receive the discretionary portion of your gift.

Please note that every Act 60 decree is different, and TPA can not guarantee the suitability of any donation to fulfill your particular Act 60 decree requirements. We recommend consulting with your tax advisor or CPA to determine the tax benefits of your donation.

  • Checks by mail → The date of the U.S. Postal Service postmark is considered the official gift date (important for year-end giving).

  • Checks delivered in person → The date received in the TPA office is the official gift date.

  • Online credit card gifts → Processed immediately; the official date is the date you complete the transaction.

  • Online transfers (ACH / wire / stock gifts) → The official date is when funds or securities are received in TPA’s account, which may take several business days.

Plan ahead at year-end to make sure your gift is recorded in the calendar year you intend. Our Development Office can help with timing questions.
